“Often times we do what we do because…well…because we have done them. In a recent PBS documentary, a survivor of the holocaust talks about when he was separated from his parents…the last words from his father were “do not forget our tradition.” It wasn’t do not forget our God or our religion…it was do not forget our TRADITION!….Often times traditions become more important than God. Perhaps in order to grow spiritually we need a tradition amputation…the death of an old limb…like pruning a tree…in order to grow rather than become complacently traditional.” –Falvo Fowler
