From childhood we love to test boundaries. Sometimes
these are healthy explorations that yield new learned
experiences useful for life. But there are those boundaries
that none can cross without harming themselves and
others. Relationships by nature have boundaries that,
when honored, yield the greatest joy and satisfaction. Yet
when violated the sure result is sorrow and death.
Sin pressed us to push the biblical boundaries of a healthy
relationship with God. The breaking of these boundaries
has had disastrous effects on how humanity relates to Him
and each other.
Because of sin the clear lines between faith and
presumption have become blurry to all of us. We frustrate
the very blessings we desire from God by trampling the
very boundaries through which we can experience them.
Jesus changed this completely. He has become the only
human being who has a healthy relationship with God and
thus with man. His life reveals what it means to have the
“faith of Jesus” in God. When this faith is activated by our
will, it will also empower us to grow in the love and
respect for God’s boundaries.
